The point that Langston Hughes is trying to get across in this poem is that life is nothing without dreams. Even though it may be a short poem it sends many different messages to the reader. He uses metaphors such as “Life is a barren field Frozen with snow” to express that without dreams like cannot contiue its full journey. Dreams are what makes us who we are, if you look at a persons dreams it tells you what kind of person they are based on what they want to fulfill in life and where they see themselves.

I think this poems overall meaning is to go through with your dreams. Never to let them go and/or give up on them. One piece of personification in this poem is “For if dreams die”. This is a piece of personifcation because it is giving dreams life by saying that dreams are something that can die when they can’t. A metaphoric piece in this poem is “Life is a broken-winged bird.” This is a metaphor because it is comparing life and a broken-winged bird without using “like” or “as”.

This poem “Dreams” by Langston Hughes explains about how you have to hold on to your dreams to become successful in life. You have to keep dreaming about your goals and you have to work hard to get what you want or it can all be gone some day. You cannot stop dreaming one day because then you wouldn’t know what to do next. If your dreams collapse, your life would become 100% times harder for you to live in. This poem sometimes can make people really think about again of what they want to achieve and then soemthing may click inside their minds and they might want to finish what they started.

This poem is about people who have dreams to hold on them forever. It tells people to never give up on your dreams and follow them. The poem also tells the reader that without dreams, life is a broken winged bird that can not fly. This means that without dreams, life will have no meaning.

This poem explains the signifigance of dreams in life. The metaphors, such as “Life is broken-winged bird” and “Life is a barren field” compare life with “negative” things to show the importance of dreams. The rhyme scheme is also nice, going A, B,C, B, A, D, E, D. I also think that the line “for if dreams die” can be categorized as personification, because dreams are something non-living which are given a human characteristic (death).

The first poem talks about the importance of dreams within our lives. It tells us that “when dreams go life is a barron field frozen with snow.” This stanza is telling the reader that without dreams life has no meaning, and without a meaning it is just a barren field of snow with nothing there. The first stanza is telling us that dreams are what make us fly, without dreams life is like a broken winged bird, a broken winged bird wouldnt be able to fly and this simile is comparing it to our lives and our imaginations that will not be free to explore.

Assigment For Break.
Dreams By: Langston Hughes
The poem, “Dreams,” explains that you should never stop dreaming and if you do, your life wouldn’t be worth living and it would be really boring. There are 3 metaphors in this poem. They are, “Life is a broken-winged bird, Life is a barren field and Frozen with snow.” These 3 lines are metaphors because thay are a comparision without like or as. Also, there is an example of personifiaction. It is, “For if dreams die.” It is a personification because it is an inanimate object given hman qualities. There is a Rhyme Scheme to this poem, which is, a,b,c,b,d,e,f,e. This poem can also describe the meaning of life without dreamwhich is-boring.

This peom by Langston Hughes is a piece of literature that is very discriptive. One metaphor that caught my attention was the comparison between broken dreams in life and the broken wings of a bird. Also the metaphor describing life as a barren field after dreams are destroyed, its really discriptive. Two examples of personification are “For if dreams die” and “For when dreams go” these are examples of personification because a dream cannot get up and leave a room nor can it die. The rhyme scheme of this is a-b-c-b/ d-e-f-e only two lines in each stanza rhyme.
I believe the overall meaning of this poem is to hold on to your dreams and desires because is you don’t you will end up miserable.

I think the poem “Dreams” explain that without dreams life is not worth living. Your life will be boring. Sometimes your dreams is your goal and without a goal you won’t be able to reach for the better things in life. I think without dreams your mind will be blank because if you really think about it you dream most of the day because when you are bored you daydream like in class or something and the 8 hours you get of sleep you have a dream or a nightmare. In the poems “Dreams” it has a personification in the second line which is “For if dreams die” dreams can’t die. Also the poem has 2 metaphors “Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly” and “Life is a barren field frozen with snow.” The author is comparing things without using like or as.

The overall meaning of this poem is to hold on to your dreams and not let them go. ITs saying if you have a dream or you are hoping for something dont let it go becasue there is always a chance it might happen. I see 2 metaphors in the poem one is “Life is a broken-winged bird” and “Life is a barren field”. These are metaphors becasue life isnt actually a barren field or a broke-winged bird. This poem is also saying with out dreams your life would be pretty pointless. This poem is also kind of symbolizing the meaning of life.

In this poem Langston Hughes is telling people to hold on to their dreams. If you don’t hold on to your dreams a number of things could happen. Everyone has a dream that they want to achieve, and when you let that dream go life is no longer worth living. It is pointless. This poem is saying not to give up. It uses metaphors to compare letting your dream go to a “broken winged-bird that cannot fly” or a “barren field frozen with snow”. Another poetic element used in this poem is personifcation, Langston Hughes had given dreams a living trait, “for when dreams die”. The rhyme scheme in this poem a,b,c,b,d,e,f,e.

“Dreams” is a poem written by Langston Hughes that puts emphasis on the importance of dreams. This is evident in nearly every line and verse of the poem. “Hold fast to dreams” encourages the reader to hold on to their dreams, “fast” indicates how fast dreams can slip away, and that you must must maintain haste not to lose them. “For if dreams die” is an example of personification. “For if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird” indicates that life is of no purpose without dreams. As is a bird with a broke wing, since the bird can not perform the very ability that comes to mind when we think of the word “bird”, fly. “For when dreams go, life is a barren field,
frozen with snow.” Uses imagery to convey the image of an empty field covered with snow. Which makes life appear as empty, cold and bleak without dreams.

I think this poems overall meaning is that to follow your dreams no matter what . You should never let them go because dreams are a part of you and your hopes. This poem has personification “For if dreams die”. This is personifcation because dreams are in your mind and literally they dont die with a knife they just kind of fade from ones mind. A metaphor in this poem is “Life is a broken-winged bird.” This is a metapohor because it is comparing life to something that it is not whithout using like or as but it is still comparing it.

In this poem, Langston Hughes is giving the message that our dreams should be held. We should go for our dreams beacuse if we have no dreams to strive for, we will be hopeless. “Hold fast to dreams” which means that we should hold on to our dreams no matter what happens. Everybody has a dream to become a special person or to achieve their goal. Dream is our imagination that could come true so hold on to that dream and trying to achieve our dream are all human’s goal. The overall meaning to this poem is about achieving our goals. This poem was short, but it had alot of thought to it. Achieving our goal is part of life.

I think this poem is trying to explain the deap meaning of what dreams really are. Many people look upon dreams as things that just come and go at night. The writer Langston Hughes is trying to explain that there is more to dreams then what meets the eye. Its saying that you must try to remeber dreams and have dreams becuase when they are gone u may not be compete without them. As the poem says “Life is a broken-winged bird”its trying to to show that without a part of the bird functioning the whole bird wont be complete just as though if we didnt have our dreams we wouldnt be complete. In general the poem is saying that if you dont hold on to something as special as dreams you wont be the same.

This poem to me means that Without a dream or a goal in life, then there isn’t a point in life. Without Dreams or goals, we would be a a broken wing bird who isn’t even trying to fly.In this poem there are 2 metaphors, “Life is a broken-winged bird” and “Life is a barren field”. There are imagary in this poem such as The broken-winged bird and there are no rhythm schemes.

In this poem “Dreams” one thing is trying to be said by the author. The author Langston Hughes is saying that dreams are everything worth in life and without dreams life is nothing. A dream is like a goal that you set yourself and with that goal you will accomplush many things in life and you have a reason to live your life. In other words if you don’t have dreams then there is really no point of going on and living without something you would one day try to achieve. For example, “Hold fast to dreams,For if dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird,That cannot fly”….this ,means that hold on to your dreams and don’t let them go because if you decide one day to do so it will be like your livinf for nothing and something important is missing in your life.
Two of the metaphors in this poem are “Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly” and “Life is a barren field frozen with snow.” These are metaphors because the author is comparing things without using the words like or as. Usage of personification is in this line “For if dreams die.” It is a personification because the author is giving dreams a human action and that is not capable of happening. The rhyme scheme of this poem is a, b,c,b d,e,f,e…two lines in each stanza rhyme.

Dreams by Langston Hughes had a lot of meanings to it that can be explained in a lot of differnet ways. The Rhyme scheme in this poem is a-b-c-b : This poem also contains 2 metaphors “Life is broken-winged bird” and “Life is a barren field” they are metaphors because they are things being compared wihtout the use of like or as. The personification in this poem is for when dreams die, this is personifications because dreams arent living things and they can’t possibly “die”. The message that the poet is trying to send out is that people need dreams in there lives because it makes living easier and lets you stick with a thing in your life, and if your dreams end your life will be much harder to live and understand.

I believe that this poem is saying that you should follow every dream. It says that if you do not take the opportunity given to you it shall pass. It also says that if you don’t have any dreams it is tough to live. Two examples of metaphors are used in “Life is a barren field” and “Life is a broken-winged bird.” The rhyme scheme goes a,b,c,b,d,e,f,e. It is basically saying that a person cannot continue to live a healthy life without any dreams.

This poem is about holding on to dreams. We all have dreams, if we forget them or let go of them, we be birds without wings- stuck, unable to fly. Birds need wings to go places and without them they’re just nothing. Dreams are what movitates us and they help us by giving courage and stability. In the second stanza itsays without dreams we’re empty fields covered with snow- nothing, no one, just alone in our misery. The rhyme scheme is a,b,c,d. Metaphors are “Life is a broken-winged bird, unable to fly” and “Life is a barren field covered with snow.” These are metaphors because they compared life without using ‘like’ or ‘as’.

I think the poem Dreams is tell us that without dreams there is really no reason for living because all the good things that can~t happen you can think of it in you dreams it like fantasys. Life will be boring. Sometimes our dreams are goals we are trying to acheive and without a goal you won’t be able to understand what you are reaching for. I think without dreams your mind will be empty because if you think bout so you day dream most of the day. When people get bored they daydream.Examples class or alone time.

The poem “Dreams” by Langston Hughes is saying to never let go of your dreams and to hold on tight to it. He’s also saying your dreams are important to you and dreams can come true so if you hold on to the dream it can come true. Dreams is something that not everybody has so follow your own dreams and maybe even lead them. Where he says, “For if dreams die,Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly.” means that if you lose ur dream and let it go it is just like a bird that cannot fly with broken wings and we are the bird and the wings are our dreams. He also says, “For when dreams go,Life is a barren field,Frozen with snow.” means that if it snows it would kill all the crops in the barren field and we are the barren field and if we have snow on us then our dreams are set free.
Langston Hughes is using a metaphor when he said “Life is a broken-winged bird” and also “Life is a barren field frozen with snow”. “For when dreams die” is an example of personification. The rhyme scheme is A,B,C,B.

To me the poem is basically saying that we need to follow our dreams. If you don’t have a dream or don’t know what you want or where you want to go in life then living it will be very hard. He uses metaphors such as, “Life is like a broken winged bird that cannot fly,” to get his point across. For most birds, if they do not have wings or can’t fly then more than likely they are useless and will be abandoned from evrything or everyone that was once so near and dear to them when they could fly.

The rhyme scheme is also catchy going A, B,C, B, A, D, E, D.
